Seventh Annual 3% Conference

NOTE: Group ticket pricing ends Thursday, Oct 18 and late individual ticket prices begin.

We’re not a women’s conference, but a business event about the importance of diversity to creativity. Men and women from the worlds of advertising, marketing, PR, tech, non-profits and more come together for two days of inspirational keynotes, themed master classes, informative panels and networking.

This year’s theme is BRING IT!

-A rally cry to bring and share your wisdom.

-An invitation for more peer-to-peer learning.

-A reminder to bring your men, your juniors, your leadership, your clients — a true cross-section of your company.

Our 7th annual conference will offer more opportunity for audience involvement than ever before, tapping the wisdom of the 1,200 people who gather to #changetheratio.

Why Chicago?

After 3 years in New York City (and 3 years before that in San Francisco), 3% is excited to take over Chicago’s Navy Pier for our 7th Annual Conference. A new backdrop is more than just a fun photo opp. It’s a creative canvas for us to reimagine the guest experience and to add fun new offerings like a cocktail party at sea and a ping-pong tournament on land. Plus it gives us an opportunity to refresh the community with new agencies and brands who haven’t yet experienced 3%’s special breed of magic.

Which track will you choose?

Each attendee self-selects one of four tracks to follow for the majority of day one of the conference. This enables us to go deeper with helpful content for different groups of attendees, and allow for more time for hands-on learning, Q&A, and sharing from legendary leaders. Day two will be more TED-style inspirational speakers with just a few panel discussions in the mix.

Track options include:

Creative Director Track
Emerging Talent Track
Leadership/Manbassador Track
How-To Track (Peer-to-Peer Learning)

You can read more about the speaker line-up here. This event has sold out every year in advance, so get your tickets early!

Owning our Ethics: Principles for Design(ers)

In this Chicago Design Week event, we’ll assemble a cross-section of design professionals to discuss and stretch our conception of what it means to be an ethical designer in this increasingly data-rich and complicated world.
The terms “design” and “designer” represent many different disciplines, skillsets, and outputs — such as interfaces, experiences, urban environments, services, and communications — yet they share a similar root: to create new and future solutions for people. Regardless of their particular expertise, designers hold a great deal of power and responsibility for conceiving of and producing these solutions in an ethical manner. This is increasingly important in a world where attributes like transparency, diversity, and inclusiveness are no longer just nice-to-haves but non-negotiables, and one in which data-driven algorithms and behavioral insights can be used to manipulate and mislead those on the receiving end if orchestrated by the wrong hands.
Building off of a series of conversations from “Design Intersections: Design, Data, and Behavior,” a conference hosted by ID in May 2018, our multi-disciplinary panel will explore how an emerging set of ethical design principles might inform different kinds of design. We’ll then invite participants to break into smaller groups, centered on duos of designers from complementary fields, to probe and expand on what it means to design in an ethical way.
Purchase a ticket to receive a book that synthesizes the conversations from last year’s Design Intersections convening, which includes ethical principles for responsible design.

Chicago Design Week: How to Design for the Future We Want

Designers today are called upon to use their creative talents and processes to conceive of – and design – new-to-the-world physical and digital products, services, spaces, and experiences. Instead of designing for how the world is now, we have to design for how things could be – a future that can be difficult to imagine because it doesn’t exist yet. What’s more, the things we design today must have the foresight to evolve along with rapid societal and technological advances.

On behalf of Chicago Design Week, IA Collaborative welcomes you to listen to a diverse panel comprised of academics, multidisciplinary designers, and civic and business leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities inherent in designing for the future we want. After a lively panel discussion, we’ll cap the night off with appetizers and drinks on the IA Collaborative rooftop deck, weather permitting.

Learn more about registration pricing and packages.

The theme for Greenbuild 2018 is Human By Nature.

Human by Nature – The Intersection of Humanity and the Built Environment
The green building movement embraces all of humanity by making sustainable buildings and environments accessible to everyone, and in doing so, benefits the natural environment all around us. We are helping people understand their role in protecting and preserving the natural environment and leveraging the built environment to:

  1. Enhance human health and wellbeing
  2. Ensure resiliency
  3. Mitigate climate change
  4. Enhance community and social equity
  5. Restore and protect our ecosystems
  6. Enhance building efficiency and performance
  7. Promote sustainable design

The future of the human race is interlaced with the future of the planet, and the sustainable practices we celebrate and advance at Greenbuild remind us that our success as sustainability advocates, practitioners and professionals is more than a movement, it is a responsibility.
