Work Culture

Yours DOES make a difference.

Factors Changing in the Workspace

Currently changing in the workspace is due to several factors. One of those factors is the constant growth of technology. The development of smart phones, laptops, and tablets have caused the workspace to be available to employees anywhere. Employees have the availability to work at home, multiple offices, or even the dinner table. Their office is now, not just at their desk, it’s everywhere. Another factor changing the workspace is the millennials entering the workforce. By 2020, millennials will account for nearly half the employees in the world. Not only will millennials be accountable for half the workforce, there will also be five generations working side by side in 2020. These generations are Traditionalists, Boomers, Gen X, Millennial, and Gen 2020. The characteristics of millennials are already changing the atmosphere of the workplace. These characteristics include technological skills, being efficient multitaskers, having self-confidence, and desiring immediate feedback, speedy advancement, and a work balanced life. These characteristics are obviously a forceful difference from the characteristics of Generation X and the Baby Boomer generation; therefore, there is a need for change in the workplace.

Your Culture

In “Change Your Space, Change Your Culture”, Rex Miller and Case4Space use IBM’s survey to show a “Ladder to Innovation”. This ladder describes how culture creates engagement, engagement creates collaboration, and collaboration creates innovation. Miller describes the “essential rung is an engaging culture”. How do you have an engaging culture? “The workplace becomes a vital barometer and tool for creating that culture” (Miller). Create a value for your space to create its culture. At Business Office Systems we understand the importance of your work culture. Since 1948, BOS has been providing workplace solutions for companies. It is our goal to continue to grow with the factors changing in the workspace once again. We want to coexist with your work culture and develop value to your future spaces so your future is filled with engaging and collaborative talent to be motivated from the spaces created.
