WELL Building 4-Part Series

Series Overview

Join the Illinois Green Alliance, IIDA Illinois and AIA Chicago for a 4-part series addressing health and wellness in our buildings and spaces. Attendees can sign up for all 4 sessions as a series, or choose to register for individual sessions on the Illinois Green event calendar.

Health and wellness continues to be a leading driver for decision making in design, construction and operations. Clients across industries are interested in how their schools, homes, offices and healthcare facilities are impacting occupants and their bottom line. Driven in part by the influence of the WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, RESET and other frameworks referenced by our industry, this four-part series will explore facets of the built environment that, if designed well, can improve the health and performance of occupants.

There is a great recognition that environmental health and human health are interconnected and while these approaches are aligned, there are differences in how we have collectively designed for sustainability, and the potential that remains to improve our indoor environments for occupant health and wellness. We will these concepts including the underlying medical research, strategies for success, and case studies. Participants will leave inspired with a foundational understanding to deepen their practice to promote health and wellness in their work.

Learning Objectives

1. Gain an understanding key facets of health and wellness in design, construction and operations
2. Identify strategies that are appropriate for their project type that promote health and wellness
3. Begin to understand the business case for integrating health strategies into design
4. Understand the industry landscape, tools and resources to learn more about these topics
