Making Sure You Can Be Present For What Matters Most

As technology improves allowing us to be connected to work 24/7, it’s important that we not lose focus on what matters most. Even though we may want to perform our best while at work, our time is finite, and we only have so much time to get all our work done. In order to help you be present for what matters most in your life, we’ve come up with 5 tips on increasing productivity at work so that you can get stuff done while still leaving time for activities outside of work.

1. Leverage Your Commute

For most of us, a huge amount of our time each day is spent travelling to and from work. If you drive to work, consider listening to books or podcasts. The daily commute is a perfect time to learn and grow professionally through listening to podcasts or books. If you commute by bus or train, this is a perfect time to jump start your day, or do a quick wrap up after work.

2. Work Outside of 9-5

Depending on your situation, some people find working late or a couple hours on the weekend are viable options. Other people love completing a substantial amount of work early in the morning before the day has even begun. Either way, working during hours outside of the traditional 9am-5pm schedule is a great way to do some focused work without the distraction of phone calls, meetings, or emails.

3. Tap into the Power of Technology

Consider using technology to become a more efficient worker. Instead of driving two hours for a 30 minute meeting, why not make a quick video conference? Collaboration tools like Bluescape can save you massive amounts of time by correlating all of your resources for a project in one location.

There are so many great software options as well. Take Slack messaging for example, BOS uses this to communicate and share files with the creative employees as a much more efficient form of communication than email in most cases.

4. Don’t Start from Scratch

Whether it’s creating a video, building a website, designing a newsletter, or gathering assets for a presentation, there are so many great resources in the digital space that allow you to do more in less time. For more information on how to utilize a phenomenal source of digital resources, read our article on Envato and how helpful it can be for marketers or any kind of creative.

Regardless of the size of your business, we all have a finite amount of resources to accomplish our goals. Spend your time and your money in a manner that will maximize your investment.

5. Rely on a Great Team

The best one for last, put together a great team and rely on them. When you find capable people who are eager to continue learning, your team will be able to accomplish more in a shorter period of time as you all rely on each other. Some qualities that you might want to look for when assembling your team are loyalty, work ethic, reliability, and accountability.

We hope you found these tips useful. If you have any techniques or tools you use for increasing productivity at work, comment down below or connect with us at BOS.com
