Join us for the sequel to this past June’s program on the impact COVID-19 has had on Tampa and Tampa Bay’s hospitality industry. The industry was uniquely positioned in 2020 with a record February, a NCAA College Basketball Round 1 and 2 four (4) day weekend, two premiere domestic & international event platforms – Wrestlemania and Super Bowl – a dynamic summer season and adding about 1,500 new room inventory in Hillsborough County alone. Then COVID-19 appeared. How did the industry survive the balance of 2020 – with a rebound or a mission impossible – and what does the future look like?
Event Schedule:
One lucky attendee will win* a one-night stay in a King Balcony Room from the new 178-room Hotel Haya located in historic Ybor City (based upon availability; blackout dates apply and will be valid through Dec. 30, 2021). The decor immerses guests in mid-century Cuba with rooms featuring period fabrics and colors: warm and inviting palettes of blue, red, brown and gold in addition to four massive Francisco Goya reproductions and Chihuly-style glass blown globes paying homage to Ybor’s famous streetlights. The project is an adaptive reuse of two historic buildings: the district’s first restaurant built in 1890 and the Warren building, rumored to have housed Teddy Roosevelt & Rough Riders.
