Top Tips for a Tidier Desk
It’s all the craze lately to have a tidy space (especially if you’ve watched Tidying Up with Marie Kondo on Netflix!). Having a neat workspace will not only help your productivity, but it will keep you feeling calm at work, even if you have a lot on your plate. A messy workspace will keep you distracted and leads to a subconscious level of stress since your mind will wander to the mess.
Here are some tips on keeping a neat workspace and how you can do so easily.
Keep items organized
For all of your pens, papers, and other office supplies, you should keep everything in its own separate containers so it stays neat and organized. Paper holders and labeled folders will help you sort the various papers that you need on a daily and weekly basis so that you can easily access them and keep them stored in places that make sense for you. When you have things nearby, too, you won’t need to go shuffling through your desk drawers and papers to find the things you need.
Clean your space
Go further than just keeping your space tidy by cleaning it regularly. You can keep Clorox wipes in your drawers or other cleaning supplies to remove any dust on your space. Not only will it keep things clean, but if you have allergies or find yourself getting colds frequently, it can also help you feel better.
Keep a trashcan nearby
When you’re aiming to keep your space cleaner, you’ll want to have a garbage can nearby so you can have a tidy place. That way you’ll be able to get rid of any trash easily and quickly without tossing it to the side where it’s quickly forgotten and could pile up. On top of that, it’s also a good idea to keep a recycling bin nearby so you can easily recycle papers you don’t need.
Remove distractions
One way to keep your space feeling tidy is to remove anything that could be a potential distraction. Keep things straightforward and organized in a way where you won’t constantly be looking around at other things. Distractions could also come in the form of noise, so you’ll want to ensure you’re courteous to others and keep noise at a minimum.
Add some greenery
With some plants, you can channel a new, tidier energy in your workspace. It’ll leave you feeling renewed, feeling calmer, and will provide you with a space that keeps you feeling productive.
Keep things sorted
By keeping your papers in designated areas, such as folders that are designated for each day of the week or drawers that have built-in filing cabinets, you’ll be able to keep everything organized and easily sorted.
