Inspired By:

I am inspired by the power of design. Design has the power to shape society without waiting for—or being constrained by—policy. Design can provide access for people with disabilities not out of legal obligation, but because inclusion is a design value. It can honor diverse cultures not because a regulation demands it, but because communities deserve to see themselves reflected in space. Design can reimagine oppressive systems not because of systemic change, but because we believe in real reform. Design can, anyway.

Keys to a Successful Project:

The key ingredients to a successful project are a team you can trust and community engagement. Having a team you trust to get the project across the finish line is essential, you are able to learn on each other and learn from each other when you have a foundation of trust. Community engagement enhances our project’s impact. With feedback from the community or end users we design for, we bring more diverse voices to the table that generate more diverse and innovative solutions.

Interests Outside of Work:

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with the people I love, playing video games, reading fiction and nonfiction books, cuddling with our two cats, and eating at our favorite local restaurants!
