How Has Workspace Design/Layout Changed Since 2019?

Collaboration spaces, now more than ever, are key to having an inspiring work environment. Conference rooms designed for video conferencing are one of the most important changes that came from the pandemic and aren’t going anywhere soon. Here are just a few thoughts from our experts at BOS on how workspace design and layout have changed since 2019:
Current workspace designs are shifting from being designed to support industry, companies, or business units and are more about how workplaces can support individuals in a flexible work-life setting.
People care more about their space, not always about the furniture but the flexibility as well as wellness. If a space is flexible with many types of workstyles (open, collaborative, closed small to large spaces) as well as having light and biophilia, we find that it meets the new requirement. It also helps to use Stylize to make the space have a personality to mimic the home environment.
I would have to say the biggest change has been that in 2019 Benching workstations were very popular for assigned workstations but today we are seeing the benching stations be used in a hoteling capacity or unassigned/open stations for a touchdown space.
Already seeing more of a move to heavy social collaborative space, more “fun” spaces in offices (cornhole, stocked bar, etc) reduced workstations, and more touch-down areas.
More meeting spaces and fewer workstations. Especially larger meeting spaces.
Absolutely, with new approaches to our stance on how we especially divide areas with collaboration zones as well as private zones and all the in-between. We need our clients as well as our employees to feel comfortable with what we are providing which in the end obviously encourages coming into the office and getting that person-to-person touch which as a society, has been proven to always be positive.
