Conference seating, often found in conference rooms, are intentionally simple and are often with static arms and minimal adjustment options. Instead of being designed to support long periods of sitting, their purpose is more for aesthetics and to provide a uninform look to a room or space. Creating more of that uniform work environment that other seating does not create.
To support this aesthetic, what they lack in ergonomic features and customization they make up for in their higher end finishes and design characteristics, often being made out of leather, metal or wood.
Sometimes conference seating may have higher backs and be larger than task seating so that the chairs can support a wide variety of postures and users.
And here’s one last helpful tip for you – pick your table first. This way you’ll know how many chairs to get, which color and material to choose, and also what arm height to have. Make sure the arms of the chairs fit nicely under the table, because nothing is worse than buy furniture that does not work together.
Of course, you’re welcome to use task, guest, side, training, executive, stacking or nesting chairs around your conference table, but knowing what you now know about this seating, the best bet for your next meeting room might just be conference seating.
