Accreditations
Accreditation are important for assuring quality, competency and capability. Here are few important designations that impact the contract furniture industry.
LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a green building certification program used worldwide. Developed by the non-profit U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) it includes a set of rating systems for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, homes, and neighborhoods which aims to help building owners and operators be environmentally responsible and use resources efficiently.
NCIDQ: This certification is the industry’s recognized indicator of knowledge and proficiency in interior design principles; a designer’s commitment to the profession.
BIFMA: BIFMA sponsors the development and maintenance of furniture safety, performance, and sustainability standards that impact people’s lives. BIFMA Compliant is an industry-wide registry of furniture products that conform to BIFMA safety and durability standards. Compliant provides clarity to the market by differentiating products that meet established industry standards.
UL: Is a global independent safety science company with more than a century of expertise innovating safety solutions. Among the many Certifications offered by UL, the Facility Certification protects the integrity of facilities during planning, construction and operation.
ANSI: The American National Standards Institute, is a private non-profit organization that oversees the development of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States. This isn’t actually an accreditation, but we decided to include it as they are a key player in setting product standards.
SCS Global: Is an international leader in third-party certification, validation, and verification for environmental, sustainability, and food safety and quality performance claims.
WELL: The leading tool for advancing health and well-being in buildings globally. The WELL Building Standard currently involves over 21,000 projects and more than 2 billion square feet in 97 countries.
