Interior Architecture: The Secrets of a Successful Cross-Collaboration
Presented by: Patricia Rotondo, IIDA, Senior Principal | Director of Interior Design, Antunovich Associates
Interior designers create environments that address occupant welfare, which requires consideration of complex physical, mental, and emotional needs. It takes craft; it takes expertise; and it takes a village to create these spaces. The cross-collaboration between disciplines includes analysis, planning, design documentation, and management of complex interior environments in compliance with building design, construction, fire, life-safety and energy codes, industry standards, and regulations. This presentation will provide a comprehensive discussion on what interior designers do beyond selecting color and fabrics and review how they work with teams to create successful and profitable projects.
The presentation will focus on the following learning objectives:
- Learn what an interior designer is, what they do and how their role is key to occupant comfort in a space.
- Learn how interior designers effectively collaborate with project team members including in-house architects, associate architects, specifiers, consultants, and manufacturer’s representatives.
- Explore how interior designers can collaborate with landscape architecture and be involved in exterior placemaking.
- Learn how interior designers implement design strategies to work within budgets and improve return on investment (ROI) for project stakeholders.
